Events

We have many ongoing and seasonal events each year! We provide community education, recycling events and honor local citizens.

Enviro Expo
Since 1999, the MET has hosted Tulsa’s Official Earth Day Party, Enviro Expo. Live music and informational booths by local green organizations draw more than 4,000 people to Main Street in downtown each year.

America Recycles Day Banquet
Each November, on America Recycles Day we honor local recycling heroes at a banquet reception. When the time draws near, we will solicit award nominations online.

Fairgrounds Pollutant Collection
Twice a year, we hold a household hazardous waste collection at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds. It gives Tulsa area residents a chance to rid their homes of dangerous lawn and cleaning chemicals, auto fluids, medications and other materials.

Project ReDirectory
The MET and at&t have teamed up for several years to collect phone books at local recycling centers and downtown locations. This program was the very first of its kind in the nation and serves as a model for other communities looking at the issue of phone book recycling. Project ReDirectory ended in 2009 when the MET began accepting phone books year-round at all of its recycling centers.
