Mercury cleanup for a broken bulb:All children, pets and pregnant women should leave the room. Open any windows or doors. Do not use a vacuum cleaner. Wear plastic gloves to pick up the glass pieces and debris. Place any glass or debris in a zip lock bag. Use damp paper towels to wipe up the powder and mercury in slow, sweeping motions. Place the paper towels in a zip lock bag and seal it. Pick up any remaining mercury with the sticky side of duct tape. All materials used to clean up the broken bulb should be sealed inside zip lock bags. Label the bags and bring to a hazardous waste disposal company. Be sure to wash your hands after clean up.
